Starting January 1, 2026, all Aetna plans offer $0 copay for Teladoc virtual primary care visits regardless of the reason for your visit. This applies to both employer plans and Aetna Medicare Advantage plans. Telehealth through Aetna covers urgent care, primary care, mental health, and some specialty consultations.

What's Covered

Virtual primary care visits at $0 copay through Teladoc. Urgent care visits for common conditions (cost depends on your specific plan). Behavioral health services including therapy and psychiatry. Some plans cover dermatology consultations and chronic condition management. Coverage details vary by plan, so check your Summary of Benefits.

How to Access It

Log into the Aetna member portal or app and look for the telehealth option. You'll be directed to Teladoc, Aetna's telehealth partner. You can also go directly to Teladoc and enter your Aetna insurance information. Visits are available 24/7 for urgent care and by appointment for primary care and mental health.

HDHP Members

If you have a qualified high-deductible plan, you must meet your deductible before most non-preventive telehealth services are covered at the plan's rate. However, preventive telehealth visits are covered before the deductible. And under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, telehealth services are now permanently HSA-compatible before the deductible is met.

State Parity Laws

44 states plus DC have laws addressing private payer telehealth reimbursement. 23 states require full payment parity, meaning insurers must pay the same for telehealth as in-person visits. In states without parity laws, insurers can reimburse telehealth at lower rates, though most commercial plans (including Aetna) currently cover telehealth at equivalent cost-sharing to in-person visits.
